A definirse los finalistas en el béisbol venezolano

CARACAS (AP) - Con los triunfos logrados el miércoles por los Leones del Caracas y los Tiburones de La Guaira, la postemporada del béisbol profesional venezolano tendrá el jueves una jornada extra para definir cuáles serán los equipos finalistas.

Esto se debe a que la serie de todos contra todos terminó con tres conjuntos empatados en el primer lugar.

Los Leones vencieron 7-6 a los Cardenales de Lara e igularon la cima de la postemporada con los Tigres de Aragua y los Tiburones.

El triunfo de los Leones se produjo en gran medida por la oportuna ofensiva del jardinero central, Franklin Gutiérrez, quien bateó de 4-3, con dos carreras remolcadas, incluyendo la decisiva.

El relevista de los Leones, Darwin Cubillan (2-1) fue el ganador del encuentro, al lanzar una entrada en blanco, en la que permitió un hit, dio un boleto y ponchó a dos. El perdedor fue Ramiro Mendoza (0-1).

José Ascanio (7) se llevó el salvado, al lanzar de forma perfecta la novena entrada.

La victoria de los Leones puso su foja en 9-7, igual que el de los Tigres, que no jugaron el miércoles, e idéntica a la de los Tiburones, que derrotaron a las Aguilas del Zulia, 6-1.

En el triunfo de los Tiburones, en la ciudad de Maracaibo, destacó el lanzador zurdo Stephen Randolph (3-0), quien en labor de seis entradas y dos tercios aceptó tres hits y una carrera, ponchó a ocho y dio dos boletos. A la postre fue el ganador.

En la ofensiva de los Tiburones contaron con el primera base Oscar Salazar, y el bateador designado, Eliézer Alfonzo. Ambos jugadores remolcaron dos carreras.

El lanzador derrotado fue Moises Meléndez (0-1).

Ante estos resultados el jueves los Leones del Caracas y los Tigres de Aragua se enfrentarán a primera hora. El ganador de ese juego clasificará directo a la final, mientras que el perdedor disputará el último cupo a la serie decisiva del béisbol profesional venezolano ante los Tiburones.
