Auto atropella pelotón ciclista

3 junio 2008 (AOL Latino).- El peligro de participar en una carrera de ciclismo de nivel amateur es que casi cualquier cosa puede suceder. A diferencia de las competencias grandes como los giros o vueltas a países, las carreras tanto más informales son efectuadas en vías públicas y ocasionalmente se descuidan ciertos detalles.

Uno de esos detalles sin verificar cobró la vida de un ciclista en Matamoros, al norte de México, cuando un conductor aparentemente ébrio y presuntamente dormido al volante, se estrelló contra el lote que lideraba una competencia en la zona.

El chofer fue identificado como Juan Campos quien dijo ser estadounidense aunque dicha información no se pudo verificar.

Las autoridades informaron que la horrible escena se produjo en el kilómetro 15 de la carrera pautada a 34 kilómetros entre Playa Bagdad y Matamoros, justo al sur de Brownsville, Texas, de donde afirmó ser el conductor del auto mismo que enfrenta cargo por asesinato del ciclista muerto.
