SAN JUAN (AP) - El campeón mundial welter Miguel Cotto no descartó el jueves un combate ante Oscar de la Hoya, pero advirtió que el ex campeón debe esperar su turno.

De la Hoya dijo el miércoles en una conferencia de prensa telefónica que después de su revancha con Floyd Mayweather, quisiera despedirse del boxeo con una pelea ante el boricua Cotto.

El ex campeón mundial dijo que su última pelea tiene que ser con uno de los mejores "y después de Mayweather, el que sigue es Cotto".

"Siempre hemos enfatizado nuestro interés en pelear con los grandes nombres de la división wélter", dijo el campeón de la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo.

"En este momento estamos enfocados en nuestro combate con (el mexicano Antonio) Margarito del cual estamos seguros que saldremos victoriosos. Si De la Hoya quiere enfrentarse a mí tiene que hacer los acercamientos con mi empresa y mi equipo de trabajo. Estamos aquí y nos preparamos fuerte para enfrentar a los mejores", expresó.

Cotto (32-0, 26 nocauts) aún negocia con Margarito para enfrentarse el 26 de julio.

En cierto. Oscar de la Hoya llena los lugares donde hace sus peleas, pero si no tiene un contricante de altura, la lucides no es la misma, como en la pelea de esta noche cuyo adversario deja mucho que desear como un peleador peligrosos. Como dicen los puertorriqueno es un "pescaito" facil de enganchar. Si Oscar quiere navegar en los grandes dolares y retirarse con dignidad, debe medirse a Miguel Cotto, y eso es harina de otro costal. Voy a Cotto por LA VIA RAPIDISIMA.

Miguel Cotto, is the hottest fighter out there,his punching power is second to none,Oscar better not even think about stepping in the Ring with Cotto, 8 years ago yes, but not now, Cotto is too strong for Oscar,or anyone else for that matter. Cotto will be around for a few years.
