De La Hoya quiere retirarse en la cima

México, 23 Abr (Notimex) - El boxeador mexico-estadounidense Oscar de la Hoya afirmó que este será su último año como boxeador activo después de 15 años de profesional y su deseo es retirarse como campeón del mundo.

El Golden Boy ofreció esta tarde una conferencia telefónica internacional para promocionar su combate contra Steve Forbes, anunciado el próximo 3 de mayo en el Home Depot Center de Carson, California.

"Gracias al boxeo he logrado mucho económicamente y lo hago porque me gusta el deporte, todavía lo puedo hacer y quiero ser campeón de nuevo, así que este año va a ser mi último año y quiero echarle muchas ganas para salir como monarca", dijo. De la Hoya mencionó que uno de sus planes era pelear en México y aunque no se pudo, mientras esté activo hay posibilidad, "pelear en México ha sido siempre mi sueño y ojalá lo haga antes de retirarme".

De su pelea contra Steve Forbes en la función denominada "Regreso a casa", comentó que mucha gente la considera de preparación antes de buscar la revancha contra Floyd Mayweather jr, pero comentó que este tipo de peleas son complicadas.

"Mi intención es ir por el nocaut, mi preparación, mi estado físico y mental, y mis entrenadores me dicen que vamos a noquear. Estamos listos para los 12 rounds, pero vamos a ganar antes del límite", pronosticó.

¿De La Hoya es boxeador o promotor?


Oscar de la Hoya tiene ambiciosos planes, "le voy a ganar a Mayweather y siguiendo por esa línea, seguirá el puertorriqueño Miguel Cotto. Todo depende de lo que pase, Cotto tiene una pelea dura contra Antonio Margarito, es una pelea muy interesante pero sabemos que Cotto va a ganar", finalizó.
