Los Angeles, 13 May (Notimex).- Los campeones mundiales Manny Pacquiao y David Díaz aseguraron que su duelo titular será muy explosivo y que le darán a la afición una pelea para el recuerdo, en la función denominada "Combinación Letal".

El filipino "Pacman" Pacquiao, campeón superpluma del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo (CMB), y Díaz, monarca de peso ligero del mismo organismo, disputarán la corona de las 135 libras el próximo 28 de junio en el hotel Mandalay Bay de Las Vegas, Nevada.

Pacquiao (46-3-2, 34 nocauts), originario de General Santos City en las Filipinas, buscará su cuarta corona mundial en cuatro diferentes categorías ante Díaz. El astro filipino ha sido campeón mundial en las divisiones mosca, supergallo y superpluma.

"Esta es una oportunidad para mí de hacer historia, pues ningún boxeador asiático ha ganado cuatro coronas mundiales en diferentes divisiones y me gustaría ser el primero", dijo Pacquiao, quien llegó el lunes a Los Angeles y entrenará en el gimnasio Wild Card de Hollywood.

David Díaz (34-1-1, 17 ko"s), de Chicago, Illinois, expondrá la corona ligera del CMB por segunda ocasión. En su primera defensa en agosto del 2007 en casa derrotó por puntos al legendario boxeador tijuanense Erik "Terrible" Morales.

"Sé que Pacquiao es el favorito y lo entiendo, pues es uno de los mejores peleadores del mundo, pero a mí me costó mucho ganar este campeonato mundial y no lo pienso perder", dijo Díaz, quien entrenará en Chicago para esta pelea.

Ambos boxeadores aseguraron que tienen todo para ganar la pelea estelar de la función denominada "Combinación Letal" en el Events Center del hotel Mandalay Bay, pero que no será fácil.

Pacquiao hará su debut en las 135 libras contra Díaz.


"Estoy seguro que será una pelea explosiva porque ambos tenemos un estilo muy aguerrido. A los dos nos gusta la pelea de choque y por eso estoy seguro que será muy buena para toda la afición, mucho mejor que la de Márquez o Barrera, quienes prefieren el contragolpe a buscar pelea", dijo Pacquiao.

Díaz piensa que sus estilos encajarán muy bien: "Yo voy para adelante, él también. Le gusta tirar golpes y a mi también. Pienso que después de la pelea mucha gente va recordarla y años después dirán que buena pelea dieron Díaz y Pacquiao", apuntó.

David dedicó la pelea a todo México, la tierra donde nacieron sus padres y todos sus hermanos.

En tanto, Pacquiao estará no sólo subiendo de peso, sino que también estará enfrentando a un zurdo por primera vez en mucho tiempo.

"Honestamente no recuerdo al último zurdo que me enfrente. Ha sido mucho tiempo. Por eso hay que entrenar bien y estar preparado para enfrentar a peleadores zurdos, para no tener problemas", dijo Pacquiao.

El empresario Bob Arum, director ejecutivo de Top Rank, anunció otras tres peleas como respaldo a este gran combate.

En la semifinal, el mexicano Humberto "Zorrita" Soto enfrentará al dominicano Francisco Lorenzo, en un duelo por el campeonato interino superpluma del CMB.

Si Pacquiao gana decidirá con cual título se queda y si pierde y regresa a las 130 libras tendrá que enfrentar al ganador de este combate.

En otro duelo titular, Steven Luévano expondrá su corona pluma de la Organización Mundial de Boxeo (OMB) ante el boricua Mario Santiago y a 10 giros en peso completo el gigante de Las Vegas, Tye Fields, enfrentará a Monte Barrett.

Todos sabermos que el boxeo es un gran negocio para casi todos los empresarios, por lo tanto no les conviene ver ganar nunca a un retador, ya que la popularidad del disque campeon Pacquiao no debe caer sino no seria negocio, me hubiese gustado que ese Pacquiao estuviera en los tiempos de J.C Chavez este si le partiria su madre rapidito...................................................
