'Iron Boy' dará una "clase de boxeo"

Guaynabo (Puerto Rico), 24 mar (EFE) - El puertorriqueño Iván 'Iron Boy' Calderón aseguró hoy que dará "una clase de boxeo" en su defensa del título de las 108 libras de la Organización Mundial de Boxeo (OMB) ante a su compatriota Nelson Dieppa, el próximo 5 de abril en San Juan.
Ambos púgiles serán los estelares de la cartelera "La Guerra Civil II" que se celebrará en el coliseo Roberto Clemente de la capital y donde Calderón tratará de continuar invicto en sus 31 peleas.
Calderón hará la segunda defensa de su corona contra Dieppa luego de defenderla exitosamente ante el mexicano Juan Esquer, el 1 de diciembre del pasado año.

"Los fanáticos del boxeo van a ver lo que es una clase de boxeo. El que no le guste el boxeo, verán boxeo, pegada y rapidez", indicó Calderón durante un receso de su entrenamiento en el gimnasio Wilfredo Gómez de Guaynabo, ciudad aledaña a San Juan.
Sostuvo que como no puede "lucir mal" ante su gente, estará "listo para todo el ataque" que le tendrá planificado Dieppa durante el combate.
"Llevaba cuatro años esperando por esta pelea. Desde que mencionaron el nombre de Dieppa (25-4-2), me he preparado como nunca", expresó Calderón, quien se declaró "el rey de los doce asaltos".
Calderón indicó que le tiene respeto a Dieppa por ser una persona con mucho valor a pesar de que otros contrincantes aseguran que lo retirarán luego de vencerlo.
"Yo nunca digo que voy a retirar un boxeador. Eso lo ha mantenido con orgullo y eso le han hecho un daño. Yo no voy a utilizar esa palabra. Aquí el retiro lo toma uno mismo", dijo.
Calderón aseguró también que escalará la categoría de las 112 libras antes de retirarse, por lo que tendría oportunidad de convertirse en campeón en tres divisiones distintas.
El púgil boricua defendió en 11 ocasiones el título de la OMB del peso mínimo (105 libras) antes de arrebatarle el campeonato de las 108 libras al mexicano Hugo Cázares, el 25 de agosto del 2007.
Antes de escalar la división de las 112 libras, Calderón podría apoderarse de los títulos de la Federación Internacional de Boxeo (FIB) y del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo (CMB) que ostentan los mexicanos Ulises Solís y Edgar Sosa, respectivamente.
La otra pelea titular de la cartelera será entre el dominicano Juan 'Panterita' Mercedes, quien defenderá su título latino supermosca (115 libras) de la OMB ante el veterano puertorriqueño José 'Carita' López. EFE
