Leones del Caracas están a un triunfo del título en Venezuela

MARACAY, Venezuela (AP)- Comandados por una sólida actuación de su lanzador abridor Nelson Figueroa, los Leones del Caracas vencieron el miércoles por 3-2 a los Tigres de Aragua y se colocaron a un triunfo de convertir en los campeones del béisbol profesional venezolano por 17a. ocasión.

Figueroa (1-0) lanzó por espacio de cinco entradas y un tercio en las que aceptó cuatro imparables y dos carreras; ponchó a siete y dio dos bases por bolas.

Con esa actuación guió a los Leones a su tercer triunfo de la serie, que se disputa al mejor de siete.

Figueroa fue el ganador del encuentro.

En la ofensiva los Leones contaron con el aporte de su cuarto bate y primera base Alex Cabrera, quien conectó jonrón (1) y remolcó dos carreras.

Junto a Cabrera destacó el jardinero izquierdo, José Castillo, quien impulsó una anotación.

José Ascanio, el pitcher cerrador de los Leones, se llevó el salvamento al lanzar de forma perfecta, con tres ponches, la novena entrada del juego.

Por los Tigres, que quedaron contra la pared, lució el parador en corto Ronny Cedeño, quien bateó de 4-2, con cuadrangular (1) y dos carreras remolcadas.

La derrota fue para Tim Harikkala (0-1), quien en labor de cinco entradas y dos tercios aceptó tres carreras y cinco hits.

El jueves se disputará en Caracas el sexto juego de la final.
