JUPITER, Florida (AP) - Juan González se perdió el lunes su séptimo partido seguido de pretemporada, con lo que el jugador puertorriqueño podría estar poniendo en peligro sus posibilidades de ganarse un puesto en la nómina de los Cardenales de San Luis.
"Igor" González se sometió el viernes a una prueba de resonancia magnética debido a una dolencia abdominal, y estaba a la espera del análisis de la misma por parte de un especialista.

El toletero de 38 años, que intenta volver a las Grandes Ligas tras sólo un turno al bate en las pasadas tres campañas, indicó que los médicos del equipo le dijeron que la dolencia no es grave.
"Los doctores dicen que no hay hernia, que es sólo algo de un músculo", dijo González a The Associated Press el lunes. "Sigo en tratamiento y saldré a jugar cuando esté bien".
Añadió que la lesión mejoraba, pero lentamente.
"Espero regresar lo más pronto posible. Ahora mismo no puedo correr, pero puedo tomar swings".
González pudo practicar bateo en un juego simulado y se le vio hacer una mueca de dolor al tratar de hacer contacto en una ocasión. Dijo que tuvo siete turnos al bate contra jugadores de las menores el domingo y que planeaba repetir la rutina el lunes.
González pelea con Brian Barton la quinta plaza de jardinero de los Cardenales. Barton batea para .349 con dos jonrones, tres triples y ocho remolcadas en esta pretemporada.
