Venezuela: Leones empatan la punta

CARACAS (AP) - Una sólida labor del abridor de los Leones del Caracas, Brad Knox, encaminó el jueves al equipo a un triunfo por 6-2 sobre los Tiburones de La Guaira.

Con esta victoria los Leones empataron el primer lugar de la tabla de posiciones en la postemporada del béisbol profesional venezolano, junto a los Tiburones y los Cardenales de Lara.

Knox (1-1) lanzó por espacio de seis entradas, en las que aceptó seis hits y una carrera; además ponchó a dos y dio dos bases por bolas. Esa labor le permitió adjudicarse la victoria.

En la ofensiva, los Leones contaron con el oportuno bateo del segunda base, Marco Scutaro, quien bateó de 4-2, con dos carreras remolcadas.

Con el triunfo los Leones dejaron su récord en 6-5, al igual que el de los Tiburones y los Cardenales.

La derrota recayó en el abridor de los Tiburones, Enrique González (1-1), quien trabajó cinco innings, en los que permitió cuatro carreras y cinco hits; ponchó a tres y no dio boletos. Con el revés los Tiburones dejaron su cadena de triunfos en cuatro.

En Maracay, los Tigres de Aragua llegaron a tres victorias en fila, al vencer a las Aguilas del Zulia, 7-2

El abridor de los Tigres, Horacio Estrada (1-1), le señaló el camino hacia el triunfo a su novena.

Estrada lanzó cinco innings y dos tercios, en los que aceptó cinco hits y dos carreras; ponchó a dos y no regaló bases por bolas. Fue el ganador.

En la ofensiva de los Tigres destacó el campocorto, Ronny Cedeño, quien remolcó tres carreras y bateó de 3-2.

Para los Tigres esta fue su sexta victoria de la postemporada y dejaron su récord en 6-6. Están a medio juego del primer lugar.

La derrota fue para el abridor de las Aguilas, Alberto Bastardo (0-1), quien pitcheó un inning y un tercio, en el que aceptó cinco hits y cinco carreras -cuatro limpias-. Dio dos boletos.

Con esta derrota las Aguilas dejaron su marca en 4-7. Siguen últimas en la postemporada del béisbol profesional venezolano.
