La madre del ex lanzador de las mayores Víctor Zambrano fue secuestrada el domingo en Venezuela, informó el representante del pelotero Peter Greenberg.

Elizabeth Méndez Zambrano fue plagiada por la mañana en la granja de su hijo cerca de la ciudad de Maracay en el centro de Venezuela.

En el país sudamericano, origen de decenas de jugadores de las mayores, las familias de deportistas acaudalados suelen ser víctimas de los secuestradores. El hijo del receptor novato Yorvit Torrealba y su cuñado fueron liberados un día después de que fueron plagiados en junio.

Zambrano jugó siete temporadas en las Grandes Ligas con Tampa Bay, Mets de Nueva York, Toronto y Baltimore. El derecho tiene una foja general de 45-44 con un promedio de 4.64 en carreras limpias admitidas.

El lanzador no ha estado en un partido de las mayores desde el 2007.
