    México no jugará la Copa Sudamericana

    MEXICO (AP) - La CONCACAF se retiró el martes de la Copa Sudamericana, una decisión que afecta a los equipos mexicanos Monterrey y Puebla.

    Clubes de México, Estados Unidos y Centroamérica han jugado en la Sudamericana desde 2005, y el Pachuca se coronó campeón en 2006.

    El acuerdo entre la Conmebol y la CONCACAF era por cuatro años y se cumplió en el 2008, según Chuck Blazer, director ejecutivo del organismo rector del fútbol en Norte, Centroamérica y el Caribe.

    "Lamentamos que los equipos designados por México para la Copa Sudamericana, Monterrey y Puebla, no podrán participar en el torneo debido a la decisión de la CONCACAF", dijo Blazer en un comunicado.

    El directivo señaló que la decisión busca que los clubes se enfoquen más en participar en los torneos de su región, como la Liga de Campeones de la CONCACAF.

    La Copa Sudamericana comienza en agosto y termina en diciembre.

    "Esperamos que ambos equipos tengan la oportunidad de participar en el futuro en competencias de la CONCACAF", agregó.

    Blazer sostuvo que la CONCACAF mantiene el compromiso para jugar en la Copa Libertadores de 2010, aunque en noviembre su comité ejecutivo revisará la participación en los años futuros.

    El retiro de la Sudamericana es el más reciente episodio de roce entre las autoridades del fútbol de la CONCACAF y la Conmebol. En mayo, México se retiró de la Libertadores y rompió relaciones con el fútbol sudamericano cuando clubes de Brasil y Uruguay se negaron a viajar a territorio azteca para sus partidos por los octavos de final del torneo continental por temor a la gripe porcina.

    Los directivos del fútbol mexicano y de la Conmebol se reconciliaron en junio y México aceptó continuar participando en la Libertadores y en la Copa América

    como quisiera q en mexico o en estados unidos se realizara LA COPA AMERICA seria algo interesante , si se pudo realizar LA COPA DEL MUNDO que son 32 equipos , mas facil serian 14 selecciones , me alegro que ningun equipo de mexico juegue la SUDAMERICANA , es mejor la LIBERTADORES alli si que jueguen .
