Estudiantes, primer finalista de la Libertadores

MONTEVIDEO (AP) - BUENOS AIRES (AP) - Estudiantes, en un estadio con unas 50.000 personas en contra y ante un rival aguerrido, sacó a relucir todo su coraje para dejar en el camino a Nacional de Uruguay y quedar en una final de la Copa Libertadores por quinta vez en su historia.

Dos goles de Mauro Boselli, el último sobre la hora, le dieron la victoria al conjunto argentino por 2-1 sobre su rival uruguayo en la noche del miércoles en el Centenario de Montevideo, reafirmando la victoria 1-0 que había cosechado en el choque de ida en La Plata.

El próximo rival de los "Pinchas", campeones de la Libertadores en 1968, 1969 y 1970, cuando fue finalista por última vez, surgirá de entre los equipos brasileños Gremio y Cruzeiro, que se medirán el jueves en Porto Alegre. El partido de ida lo ganó Cruzeiro 3-1.

"Estudiantes, a la final con alma y vida", titula el jueves el diario La Nación, que al igual que otros medios de prensa destaca que el "León", otro apodo del equipo argentino, mostró coraje para sobreponerse a un estadio adverso y a la ausencia de su futbolista más emblemático, Juan Sebastián Verón, quien no jugó por lesión.

La Nación dice que "Estudiantes ofrece eso: garra para luchar, entrega para nunca dar la pelota por perdida; juego para atacar por las bandas, personalidad para defender un resultado e inteligencia para aprovechar los errores del rival".

"Mística de campeón", titula Diario Popular. "Cualquiera sea el resultado de esta historia, Estudiantes ya ha dado una evidente demostración de su templanza. Una clara muestra la dio en el mítico Centenario".

Con el título "Leones de América", el deportivo Olé subraya que Estudiantes "volvió a festejar en ese bendito estadio Centenario, que dejó muda a 50.000 personas, que barrió a su rival, que mostró espíritu copero, temple, valentía, amor propio, que jugó como si la Bruja (Verón) estuviera, que hizo lo que cualquier hincha puede pedir".

"La mística dijo presente", señala Clarín. "Estudiantes jugó con real actitud copera. No se achicó en un partido de pierna fuerte".

"Este es un equipo que tiene mucho h...(coraje) y lo demostramos día a día", declaró el goleador Boselli. "Que nos toque cualquier rival me da igual ya que Estudiantes es un equipo preparado, duro, para una final como esta".

La prensa argentina se hacía eco, además, de versiones procedentes de Brasil en el sentido de que Gremio o Cruzeiro, cualquiera sea el finalista, se negarían a viajar a Argentina por el constante aumento de muertos y afectados por la gripe porcina.

Sao Paulo de Brasil y el propio Nacional ya se habían negado a viajar a México por el mismo tema en los octavos de final
