The Boyish Look

In 1997 Beckham was 22 and already a resounding name. His natural soccer playing abilities matched perfectly with his privileged physique turning the boy into a marketing phenomenon.

Long and Wild

This photo is from 1999 and we see Beckham with some pretty long hair wearing his Manchester United jersey. This long-hair style would cycle through his life.

Dirty 'Becks'

The beard would also cycle through Beckham's career. It was first seen around 2000.

The First Dramatic Change

It was the end of 2000 and David Beckham was starting to evolve into the King of Style Changes when he showed up with his head all shaven, the first sign of more interesting stuff to come along the way.

The "Mohawk"

But it has to be this look: the one that really set the statement! This man was for real about being and looking different all the time.

I Am My Hair

Beckham sported the "Mohawk" for a good part of 2001 and it would come back at a later stage of his career, but without the same strength and momentum it had the first time around.

In 2002 Beckham was all over magazines, billboards and TV commercials. His image was building over his work on the soccer field and his hairstyle becoming a conversational topic.

Who Needs a Comb?

Once he set place in fashion and style stardom, it was time for Beckham to experiment. This disordered look from 2002 could be a joke and even cost the job to the average man, but if it's Beckham it turns into a cool one.

In 2002 a lighter version of the "Mohawk" made its first comeback.

The braided Beckham came up in 2003 and made almost as much noise as the "Mohawk" and the shaven looks.

The braids didn't last long and Beckham came back to his more usual long hair.

The hair grew longer in 2004 and most people wondered how he kept it so thorough.

Already with Spain's Real Madrid, Beckham showed up with his long ponytail and a lot of facial hair in a rare combo.

Clean Again

In April 2004 for an awards presentation in London, Beckham's style made another comeback this time to the shaven look. He's accompanied by his beautiful and famous wife Victoria in the picture.
